The Jim Peterson Achievement Awards

as administered by the TI-Chips of Greater Cleveland, Ohio

The preamble for the Jim Peterson Awards (Penned by Jim Krych in January 1996).

The late Jim Peterson made an invaluable contribution to the Texas Instruments 99/4A home computer community. His selfless and tireless work in many areas of TI-99/4A related material made him recognized throughout the world-wide network of TI-99/4A users. As such, in an effort to further the spirit that his work had started, the following award system is enacted: The Jim Peterson Achievement Award. This will recognize TI-99/4A users and user groups for their outstanding achievements. The awards will be broken down into four areas. They are as follows: TI-99/4A Software, TI-99/4A Hardware, TI-99/4A Community and Geneve 9640 achievement.

Note: Starting in 2005, the categories were reduced to two categories, TI-99/4A and Myarc "Geneve" 9640.

Important notification:
For twenty two years, the Jim Peterson Achievement Awards, via the participation of the TI-99/4A community, has honored fellow TI99ers for what they have accomplished and provided. However, it has been decided to discontinue the Jim Peterson Achievement Awards, and place the award file into TI-99/4A community history.

Respectfully,
Glenn Bernasek, Administrator

The John Birdwell Award

as presented by the Chicago Area TI User Group, Chicago, IL.

The John Birdwell Award is not something that is voted upon. All winners of this prestigious award are selected by the John Birdwell Trustees on an annual basis, for lifetime achievements in the TI community. Although the Chicago Area TI User Group does not choose the winners, the Chicago Group presents the award because John Birdwell was a member of that user group. The identity of the Trustees remains a secret, unknown to the Chicago group or any other TI99er.

Rob Tempelmans Plat Award

The Rob Tempelmans Plat Award is a combined initiative of the Chicago TI Users Group and the Dutch TI Gebruikersgroep. The purpose of this award is to honour the TI-er who has produced the best internet site for the TI community. This award is named for the Dutch employee of Texas Instruments, Rob Tempelmans Plat, who, in 1983, wrote the first assembler program to allow the TI-99/4A to access VIDITEL, a preliminary version of the web.
